Making projects happen

Development support
When we assist organisations to develop practical ecosystem programmes and projects with rural communities, we consider this to be development support. Most of these projects are developed using the Plan Vivo System. They link payment mechanisms to the generation of ecosystem services to create a direct and positive relationship between actions, results and benefits.

Our development support varies in its scope. In some cases BioClimate may have overall responsibility for grant management and project development. Or we may be contacted by an organisation – directly or through the Plan Vivo Foundation – and asked to play a relatively intensive role in project development. Usually our involvement is limited to certain aspects of the development effort, though we may be asked to provide quite significant support for those aspects.

Research & other support
We also get involved in research, policy and other projects. The research projects are typically multi-partner, collaborative, projects with a strong emphasis on applied research in the field of rural community development and ecosystem management. Policy assignments may be connected to practical programmes and often relate to policy on REDD+ and community participation in REDD+ programmes and land management.
